So, you may have noticed – I have a bit of a thing for shoes deals. Whether it’s a discount pair of stylish summer kicks or the perfect lightweight slip-on sneaks, I’m always looking to walk a mile in something new.
I used to have trouble finding the right pair for me, but over time I’ve come up with a few tried and true techniques, which I recently put to use to find the best running shoes for me. To help you find the best shoes for you, four tips to get a great deal on the perfect pair.
1. Take a Look in Your Closet
When it comes to getting a pair of shoes that you like, let history be your guide. If you have a few pairs that fit you great already consider shopping for the same brands. This will help you get the right size and narrow your search.
When looking for new running shoes, I picked up my worn-out Asics and looked under the tongue to see what size I’ve been hitting the pavement in. Then, I looked up the same model online to find their latest products with the same features I have grown to love as well as a few I wish I had chosen previously.
2. Find a Store with Free Return Shipping
Treat your order like visiting a brick-and-mortar store to try on multiple pairs. Instead going to the store, however, have the dressing room delivered to your door. You can slip your feet into as many styles as you like and choose the best one for you. Then, pop the rest back in the box and send them back for a full refund – no questions asked.
3. Read Trusted User Reviews
I love user reviews – especially when they come from real people. In fact, a write-up by Backcountry.com gearhead Mark Parrett helped me select my newest running shoes. In addition to providing a ton of detail about the shoes, I was able view Mark’s profile and see that he is currently ranked as the number two gear guru at the site (out of nearly 20,000!) giving me some added confidence in his opinion. On top of that, I could see that we share a lot of interests – making me trust him even more.
Look to see if you can find reviews by the same users for products other than the one you’re considering. Think of it like reading a movie review. When you can find someone whose opinion aligns with your on a regular basis it makes finding shoes, or other new products, a lot easier.
4. Compare Prices and Discounts
Just because you read a review on one site doesn’t mean that it’s be best place to buy. Once you find the pair for you, search to see if another store carries the same shoes for less. Don’t forget to look for coupons, shipping costs, and special offers when determining the best total price. A little searching can go a long way.
