6 Fall Fashion Trends You Have to Try

Now that summer is coming to a close, it’s time to get ready for fall - which means you can store those swimsuits for next year and break out the sweaters! If you want to make sure you’re trying out all the hottest fall fashions, here’s a look at the latest trends popping up at your favorite stores.

1. Chunky knit sweaters

You can’t truly appreciate the chill in the air until you don your warm, cozy sweaters. The runways were teeming this year with chunky knit sweaters - designers like The Row (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s line), Michael Kors, and Phoebe Philo for Celine all featured knitwear that screams fashion-forward fall.

Pull off this look by wearing Target’s gray pullover sweater, available for just $17.48. For a little bit more, you can snag NastyGal’s Dakota cardigan. Although it’s more expensive, the style will work with tons of different outfits.

2. Fall parkas

When the weather cools down, you’re gonna need a new coat. The hottest option is a fall parka, seen on runway shows from Miu Miu, T by Alexander Wang, and Peter Pilotto. Although a parka won’t get you through the coldest months, you can add some layers and still be perfectly comfortable during fall.

Forever 21 has a great parka in both grey and dark olive for only $34.80 (bonus: it has a hood!). If you’re willing to spend a tad more, Burberry has a fantastic lightweight, wool parka in navy. Both of these options can be paired with jeans and a tee for a more casual look.

3. Layered bracelets and a watch

The layered look is still definitely in. For a trendy vibe, add multiple bracelets and a watch on your arm (the more bracelets the better!). If you’re afraid of overdoing it, try a watch like this gold one from Michael Kors, which has a studded double band. Although this gorgeous timepiece is just $113 at World of Watches, you can get even more savings by using a discount code at checkout.

4. Mod boots

Even though “Mad Men” is ending next year, the ‘60s revival trend is far from over. If you’re nervous about going all psychadelic with prints and colors, try out a pair of mod boots instead. It’s more low-key, but still lets people know you’re aware of what’s hot. Everyone from Louis Vuitton and Gucci to Saint Laurent and Valentino were displaying a ‘60s vibe with their runway looks.

We’re loving these Flat Chelsea Ankle Boots from URBANOG - especially because of the $22.20 price tag! For a chunkier style, try out the London Lovenia Boots from NastyGal (they come in both navy and off-white). Although they’re more expensive at $150, they perfectly match the hip tone that the ‘60s were all about.

5. Kick pleat skirts

Kick pleat skirts are ideal for any occasion - their longer length makes them perfect for both the office or brunch with family. This teal pleated midi skirt from Forever 21 also fits within any budget at just $19.80. If you want a skirt in some fun, bright prints, head to ModCloth. They have several options (like the Ikebana Floral Skirt for $69) that are flattering for any body type.

If you’re a true fashionista who’s a slave to the trends, you can always try pairing these skirts with a crop top (celebs like Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens are obsessed with baring their tummies). Just make sure to wear a skirt that has a higher waist, so you’re not showing off too much skin. Not truly convinced you can pull off the trend? Read this post first.

6. Bucket bags

Basic purses are so boring. Bucket bags, on the other hand, are an interesting take on a backpack-style handbag. They’re also big enough to store everything you need! Designers like Stella McCartney and Alexander Wang both had bucket bags walk down the runway this season.

Target has a great selection, ranging from this fun print bag for $29.99 to a leather option for $99.99. NastyGal also has a fabulous tan leather bucket bag that runs for $48, so no matter what your budget is, you’ll be able to snag these rad bags.
