France has been heralded as the source of the world’s best perfumes, soaps, and cosmetics for centuries. And for over 50 years, Yves Rocher has been one of the most popular beauty lines in all of France. It is estimated that one in three French women uses Yves Rocher products in her daily beauty routine. The fact is that in Europe, Yves Rocher is a household name. The company provides a wide range of all natural products including skin care, makeup, fragrances, body care, hair care, bath and shower accoutrements, and gifts for women and men. Since the beginning, the company has harvested, manufactured, and distributed its organic line from their gardens in Gacilly.
About the Gardens
Jardin Botanique de la Gacilly or the Botanical Garden of Gacilly, is a collection of horticultural treasures grown in the hometown of the company’s original founder, Yves Rocher. It was Rocher’s philosophy to control every aspect of the agricultural cycle in order to create the finest possible products. This means that Yves Rocher had already gone organic long before it became the trendy thing to do. The concept of opening the gardens to the public is to display the different ingredients that can be used to make a sumptuous brand of natural emulsions, ointments, and salves.
Visiting Gacilly in Person
Since 1975, the gardens have been open for public exploration. At Gacilly, there is a wealth of medicinal herbs and plants that are useful for man. And admission is free. The collection includes an over 1,000 taxons that are categorized according to their properties. Explore fragrant conservatories such as plants used for drinks, plants for cosmetic use, aromatic plants, plants used for perfume base, medicinal plants, and the special Artemesia collection. Botanical experts and scientific researchers are on site to research and harvest species that may have specific cosmetic applications.
