Have Your Cake and Eat It, Too: Mac or PC? How About Both!

How many times have you either been part or, or overheard, arguments over the pros and cons of Macs vs. PC’s? That many? Me, too. It seems that PC’s are becoming more Mac-ish every day, and vice-versa. Both have their strong and weak points, but did you know that they both almost always use Intel processors, and that they’re supplied with hard drives, graphics cards, and memory from the same manufacturers? Hmm.

Despite this, the battle rages on. The particulars of the debate usually play out something like this:

“Le Mac”

  • Usually lighter and thinner

  • Battery power lasts longer

  • Less prone to viruses and hacks

  • OS is less buggy

  • Simpler to use

“Le PC”

  • Variation of models

  • More customizable

  • More compatible accessories

  • Less expensive

  • Wider selection of software

  • Larger support community

There are many more sub- and tangential arguments, but those are pretty much the standards. But seriously people, can’t we all just get along? The answer is a resounding “Yes.” With the growing sophistication of software, mobile devices, cross-platforming, multi-platforming, etc, isn’t there a way to have the best of both the PC and MAC worlds at your fingertips in a simple, affordable way. Of course there is, and if you’re not aware of it, you should be. I’m speaking of programs like Parallels Desktop for Mac, which allow you to “seamlessly run both Windows and Mac OS X applications side-by-side with speed, control and confidence.” Check it out:

See? So come on, stop bickering and make a decision to embrace both behemoths of the computing world at the same time. There are many deals and promos out there that can save you a bundle on the software you need, so make the switch without having to make a switch. Truly, this can mean peace in our time.
