Hello Bright Eyes! The Beauty Guide to Eye Makeup

Looking vibrant, fresh, and fab is on every woman’s mind, but what is the #1 key to getting a younger fresher-looking face? You guessed it – your eyes! Has anyone ever said to you,“You look tired”? It’s like the polite way for them to say, “Hey, you look terrible!”

No need to worry, you can say goodbye to tired eyes with the Beauty Geek’s approved guide to bright eyes! You will have your whole office asking for your beauty secret!

1. Fresh Start

The best place to start is with a good night of beauty sleep, but if you need a little pick-me-up, try using OleHenriksen’s Ultimate Lift Eye Gel. It is my go-to eye depuffing, under-eye bag ridding powerhouse. The cooling gel is super refreshing, and the dual-action product helps to visibly firm and de-puff fatigued eyes. Snag this at Sephora, and it will be your best kept little beauty secret!

2. Prime for Perfection

If you read my last article, It's A Crime Not To Prime! My Favorite Makeup Primers, then you may already know the importance of starting with a prepped palette. The Urban Decay Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion is specialized for eyes, so it glides on smoothly and lasts all day for a crease-resistant, flawless look. Use a discount code when you check out at Ulta for major savings.

3. Waterline Wakeup

One of the best kept makeup secrets is using a nude or white eyeliner to highlight your waterline (the rim of your lower eyelid). TARTE EmphasEYES™ Inner Rim Brightener is my favorite because of its soft beige color. This product (which you can find at Ulta) provides a brighter but still natural look. It’s the ultimate in 'wakeup makeup'!

4. Hello Bright Eyes

If you are choosing to go with a more defined bold eyeliner, I always recommend choosing a natural eyeshadow color palette, like Urban Decay’s Naked Basics or Too Faced Natural Eye Shadow Collection, which are both available at Ulta and Sephora.

5. Get in Line for Greatness

There are hundreds of different eyeliners on the market including powders and crayons, but I personally refuse to stray from marker liners. I  got the Girlactik Beauty Precise Marker Liner in my Wantable makeup subscription box and have been loving it!  If you’d like to receive these amazing boxes with products like this liner, use a discount code at Wantable to get huge savings!

6. Lush Lashes

I have some great news for you…you don’t need to splurge on expensive mascara! Mascara has the shortest life span of all makeup, and most start to dry out before 90 days are up. I forgo the expensive department store brands for L'Oreal's Original Voluminous Mascara in Blackest Black (from Ulta or any drugstore). I have religiously used this mascara since high school and still have yet to find one that can beat it! I start by lightly coating the top of my lashes and then sweeping under 3-4 times from the base of the lashes out. For those little bottom lashes, I tend to just use the tip of the mascara wand to lightly coat them and finish by cleaning up any unwanted black specks with a damp Q-tip.

7. Browtastic

This step is so important that I wrote a separate blog about it (Perfect Eyebrows! Top Tips and Tools to Amazing Brows). Make sure to always trim or tweeze stray hairs, and use a clear mascara to keep hairs in place.

Even if you stayed out late with friends or just need to look more awake for that morning meeting, follow these steps for brighter eyes, and you’ll look amazing in no time!
