Even if you’re on a budget, you can still appreciate the finer things in life. Lifestyle expert Bryce Gruber and her blog, The Luxury Spot, showcase tons of different topics that will keep you informed and entertained. Read on to find out the weirdest question Bryce has ever received from a fan, how to deal with haters, and what she actually thinks about reality TV.
Your blog, The Luxury Spot, keeps readers up-to-date on the latest trends in travel, beauty, fashion, entertainment, and more. What sets your blog apart from other sites?
When I started TheLuxurySpot, it wasn’t to cover new topics, it was to cover them in a new way. Most of the print and digital magazines out there speak as if they’re professors, we speak as your best friend telling you a secret.
The site covers such a wide variety of topics (from how to stay healthy to cocktail recipes). How do you decide what to cover? And are there any topics that are off-limits?
If you’d chat with your friends about it on the phone or by text message, we blog it.
Since your articles are all about keeping your readers informed, what other bloggers or sites do you read to stay in the know?
I’m a huge fan of Aly Walansky’s work (just about everywhere on the web), I love HonestlyJamie.com’s constantly hilariously outlook, and love supporting my friend Misti’s fab work on her entertainment and plus size fashion blog, Entertainista.com.
You’re also a TV personality, having appeared on shows including Wendy Williams. What’s your favorite part about appearing on TV?
TV is an energy rush! And, what’s hard to bring to life with the written word is so much easier when you’ve got sarcastic facial expressions, don’t you think?
A few years back, you appeared on an episode of “Millionaire Matchmaker.” What was your reality TV experience like?
The word “reality” is used as loosely as the word “natural” on a packet of Splenda.
You have a crazy huge following on Twitter (with over 101,000 followers!). What’s the strangest question you’ve ever received from a fan?
Oh my gosh, I get insane questions and statements every single day. A while back someone asked if they could have my leftover makeup stubs for my DNA samples. Um, what?!
Also, in this day and age, there are so many haters and criticism that comes with being on social media. How do you deal with the negative energy?
There’s a Michael Jackson gif I posted on my @brycegruber Instagram account that deals specifically with this issue. Basically, smile and move on.
Your site contains lots of content about parenting. You’ve even written about giving your baby a manicure! What has been the hardest part about being a working mom?
I think the hardest part about parenting and having a busy work life is that you know the balance is never perfect. If a woman says her work and home life are perfectly balanced all the time, she’s a big liar. It’s a nonstop act of juggling, balancing, and re-adjusting.
The site is all about the finer things in life. For those of us on a budget, what are some ways you pamper yourself that don’t cost too much?
Actually, my favorite things are close to free. I love hot cocoa and movie night with my husband on the sofa, DIY facials with things from my kitchen, and when I’ve got extra time I love, love, love taking super long walks through neighborhoods I’m not that familiar with in NYC.
You’re often photographed for events and on the streets of New York. What’s your number one tip for looking more photogenic?
Always smile, even if you’re having a bad hair day or your skin is running wild, happiness will be the first thing people see - happiness is always beautiful.
