It’s “No Diet Day,” So Go Outside and Play with!

If you haven’t heard, Monday, May 6th is International No-Diet Day. It was started in 1992 to promote healthy lifestyles, celebrate realistic body images, and raise awareness of the potential dangers (and ineffectiveness) of dieting. It’s an unfortunate fact that first off, diets don’t work. 95% of people who diet gain the weight back within five years. Also, diets tend to come up short when it comes to squeezing all the nutrition you need into their strict regimens.

Now the good news about No Diet Day – you can use it to prompt you to get outside and get some exercise. Regular exercise, as opposed to diets, works when it comes to slimming down and staying in shape. You know who loves exercise? It’s not just their business, it’s their passion. They’ve got the gear that enables you to get healthy by enjoying the great outdoors.

Whatever is you like to do outside – hiking, running, camping, fishing, rock climbing, mountaineering, or biking – can equip you to the hilt. Don’t like any of those activities? Well, they’re all great and have something beneficial to offer, so pick one, put down the remote, and get off the sofa.

Don’t have time to go hiking and camping for a weekend? Go for a hike in the morning or after work. Or, take a “hike” around the block a few times. Get a bike and go for a ride. Get those lungs working and that heart rate up. The time of saying “I’ve been meaning to” is over, and the time of actually doing it is now.

Come on, nature is beautiful, get out and experience it firsthand. Need to be reminded of the benefits of exercise? Fine. According to the Mayo Clinic (whom are experts on health, I hear) exercise...

  • Controls Weight (Remember, it’s No-Diet Day)

  • Combats Disease

  • Improves Mood

  • Boosts Energy

  • Promotes better sleep

  • Puts the spark back into your sex life

  • Can be fun

There. Now make the decision to get fit and stick with it. Make your shopping spot for getting the stuff you need to do that, and use a coupon code to save when you do. We look forward to seeing you on the trail or wherever with a smile on your face and a slimmer waistline.
