A lot of my friends have raved about the site, ModCloth. The store has really unique styles that are often retro/vintage looking. I decided to shop the site for my Thrifty Girl mission this month. What did I learn? You can’t get a ton of bang for your buck (like I did in past months at Wet Seal and Charlotte Russe), but you can discover truly special designs that guarantee your wardrobe won’t end up looking like anyone else’s.
Here’s a peek at what items I snapped up for this month’s haul.
Beam Diggity Sandals
These gold-bar sandals are a really cute mix of casual and glam. And at 70% off, I love the $7.99 price tag.
When I was shopping for sandals at other retailers, I learned that ModCloth does have some good sale prices. For example, if I wanted a similar style of sandals from Nordstroms, I’d be shelling out $64.95 for this version from Sam Edelman. I’ll take the $7.99 pair (which I actually think are cuter!).
Wednesday Matinee Dress
ModCloth is known for their retro dresses - you can pretty much find styles from every decade! This black and silver dress is flirty, without showing too much skin, so it gives off the perfect classy vibe! It was originally priced at $52.99, but I managed to snag it for just $15.99. That’s right: a 70% discount! It’s rare to find dresses for less than 20 bucks, so this is a definite must-have!
One Posh Pack Bag
I’m constantly on the lookout for interesting handbags - I get bored carrying around solid color purses. This zebra-print bag is a tad kooky, but it’ll draw attention for all the right reasons. I’m digging the longer strap, which will make toting it around a lot easier, and it was also marked down 70% (from $54.99 to $16.99!).
Trumpets for Crumpets Ring
I’m obsessed with elephant jewelry, and this silver ring was definitely calling my name. For just $9.99, I can add a cute touch of whimsy and fun to any outfit. I also knew this was a great catch because there are over 270 positive reviews for this ring on the site.
After snapping up these 4 items, I’ve reached my goal budget of $50.
Plus with a coupon code, I’m eligible for free shipping! Yay!
So, my total haul amounted to:
1 ring = $9.99
1 pair of sandals = $7.99
1 dress = $15.99
1 handbag = $16.99
Total after tax = $54.79
Although I was a tad disappointed that I couldn’t get a few more items for 50 bucks, I’ll definitely shop at ModCloth in the future. Even if you can’t completely restock your closet with new items, you can certainly add some pieces that are totally original and will let you show off your impeccable fashion sense.
Check back next month to see what store I tackle next for my Thrifty Girl haul!
