I’ll be honest: I can’t even remember the last time I shopped at Wet Seal. I shedded mall shopping back in high school, so the store sort of dropped off my radar. Then, a little while ago, I saw the brand in a magazine, which led to me checking out the website.
I was totally shocked to find that they have an awesome selection of clothes, shoes, and accessories. But the best part is that they have insanely good deals, and they’re always offering special promotions to keep costs even lower for their customers.
I gave myself the mission to snag as much loot as I could for $50. By the end of my shopping trip, even I was impressed with myself! Check out the process I used to find 10 amazing items for 50 bucks.
Step 1: Search ‘5 for $20’ section.
One of the first things I notice on the homepage is the 5 for $20 section, which is right up my alley. Usually, these items would be $7.50 each! I easily find 5 items that will go perfectly with other stuff in my closet.
First, I come across the Striped Double Scoop Tank, which comes in several colors. I like this dusky pink one the best.
I’m always on the lookout for comfy leggings, so the Olivia Ankle Leggings are perfect in charcoal.
The Whitney Striped TriBlend V-Neck Tee will go great with jeans. I’m torn between the forest green and pink one, but green wins since I snagged a pink tee already.
Basic tees are good for layering when it’s still a little cool outside. This Double V-Neck Tee has an adorable dip in the back, so it looks more feminine than other tees.
I’m loving the camouflage trend that’s happening right now (a la Rihanna), so I added the Camo V-Neck Tee to my cart.
I’m happy with my 5 picks, so it’s onto the sale items.
Step 2: Shop the Clearance section.
On the homepage, I see the notification that all clearance items are 70% off! I also received an email about this from Wet Seal since I’m on their newsletter list. This can be a great way to find out about special promotions.
The first item I see is the adorable Crop Shaker Cardigan in an offbeat lime green color. Wait, it’s only $3?! Sold.
I love kimonos, because they’re comfortable and forgiving if you have some curves. This Tribal Print Kimono Wrap is also in interesting colors, so it’s a must-have.
But it gets even better: when I add it to my shopping cart, the 70% discount lets me reduce the price from $17.99 to $5.40!
My next awesome find is the Side Bow Short Boot. I love the detail of the cute bow, and I’ve been looking for some ankle booties in tan.
This is another incredible find once I realize how great the 70% discount is. My boots went from $24.99 to $7.50! I think that might be my record for the least spent on a pair of boots ever!
I’ve searched through all the clearance items, so it’s time to look through all the other sections.
Step 3: Check out regularly-priced items.
I’m excited to see that many of the items on the site are marked Buy One Get One 50% Off. This promotion helps drop the cost of the regularly-priced merchandise (which still isn’t too expensive).
I’ve been meaning to replace a beloved pair of black and gold sandals that literally fell apart on me. These Studded Bow Jelly Thong Sandals are a great mix of girly and tough. Plus, they’re only $12.90.
I need one more item to satisfy the BOGO promotion. When I find the Mesh Bow Ear Cuff Set, I know I have to get it. I’ve been wanting to try this trend after seeing celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens and Lily Collins rocking it. And it’s like getting 3 pairs for the price of 1!
When you combine the sandals and the cuff set, the earrings go from $7.50 to $3.75!
I’ve hit my limit of $50, and I’ve completely scoured the site for good finds.
Step 4: Check CouponPal for any other deals.
I want to make sure I can’t find any other bargains through CouponPal before I check out. There’s one offer for free shipping on orders over $50.
Plus, I don’t even need a code to access these savings.
Step 5: Review shopping cart.
After double checking to make sure all of my discounts were applied, I’m ready to check out.
So, my total came out to $52.55, and the shipping charge of $5.95 was eliminated because of the coupon code. Unfortunately, I forgot about stupid sales tax, which increased my total to $57.28.
Step 6: Finish checking out.
I complete the checkout process, and only beat myself up a tad for going over my $50 budget. However, my total haul included:
6 Tops = $24.40
1 Pair of Leggings = $4
3 Pairs of Earrings = $3.75
2 Pairs of Shoes = $20.40
Total = $52.55 (+ sales tax = $57.88)
My shopping trip at Wet Seal is by far my best haul for my Thrifty Girl missions so far. Tune in next month for my next bargain hunt!
