There is a new web series in town from Travelocity and Disney for the new Lone Ranger movie. The Lone Ranger is a film based off the 1950s television series that was a remake of the 1930s radio program. In the new series “Let’s Roam,” available to watch on YouTube, host Courtney Scott goes on a series of mini-adventure throughout the Southwest. Watch the first two webisodes below. Stay tuned for an additional video after the 4th of July.
In the first episode, “Cowboy Bootcamp, Let’s Roam” Scott visits the ranch in Texas where they trained the horses and actors that were in the Lone Ranger movie. Hundreds of horses had to be taught to run beside a speeding train without rearing. Tonto’s horse, Scout, and the Lone Ranger’s horse, Dusty, had to learn more tricks, such as jumping from roof to roof. In the three-minute YouTube video, Scott takes a beginners lesson from Troy Rogers, Professional Horse Trainer and Competitor.
Part two of the web series, “New Mexico Outlaw, Let’s Roam” Scott visits the Western gear consignment shop Double Take in Sante Fe. She tries on a few outfits and then it is time for target practice with her trusty rifle. After shooting several bottles, she goes to the Mine Shaft Tavern to tuck in some burgers.
In an interview with ClickZ, Scott tells us that the purpose of the series is meant to inspire travel and savings on last minute travel deals. According to Scott, "All of the places featured have hotels and deals [on Travelocity]. Once you watch the video, you can check out deals in Albuquerque or Santa Fe and book your own trip." The new Disney flick has an eccentric cast that includes Johnny Depp as Tonto, Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger, and Helena Bonham Carter as Red Harrington. The plot of the film centers around Tonto who tells a tale of the adventures that lead John Reid, aka the Lone Ranger, to becoming an Old Western legend. It has an average of seven stars in the public reviews on IMDB. Watch the epic trailer below.
