At CouponPal, we’re all about being frugal and saving money, but that doesn’t mean you’ll find us all wearing styles from 10 years ago (probably…). Being frugal doesn’t mean you can’t be fashion-forward! We checked out some of the runway trends for winter 2014/15 and picked a few favorites. Here are some of our favorite winter trends and our frugal suggestions for where to find them for less.
The dull days of winter 14/15 will be brightened up by flashes of gold – not just jewelry and accessories, but on clothes themselves. Want the look? Try this gold jacket or this gold embroidered cardigan, both from H&M.
2. Animal Prints
The thought of cold winter weather must have made designers like Giorgio Armani and Givenchy start dreaming of the African savannah, because animal prints were spotted (ha!) several times on the runway. Get the look with these leopard print flats from LUISAVIAROMA (use a coupon code to knock a few bucks off the price) or this animal print sweater from Forever 21.
3. Long Coats
There’s no two ways about it, winter means coats. This winter, it looks like extra-long coats are in, which means we’ll all be extra warm. Coats are always going to be a little expensive, but since it’s something you’ll wear every day, it’s worth it. Of course, there’s no need to drop hundreds on a designer coat – try this one from Macy’s, or this H&M one instead.
4. Mod Prints
5. Chunky Knits
Let’s be real, I think chunky knits are in every winter. Who doesn’t want to wrap up in a super cozy knit sweater when it’s freezing outside? Well, this winter knits actually hit the runway in a big way, so it’s safe to say that they should certainly have a place in your winter 2014-15 wardrobe. If you’re not up for knitting your own sweaters, grab one from H&M or Forever 21 – it’ll be just as cozy.
Velvet is a winter favorite, and it’s back again this year. A velvet dress like this one from Asos is perfect for holiday parties, and these platform velvet ankle boots will add interest to any winter day, no matter how dreary.
Whatever fashion decisions you make this winter, make sure you stay warm! A hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa looks great on everyone.
